"Rob Van Dam was a guest on The LAW Sunday night with Dan "The Mouth" Lovranski and Jason Agnew on Sirius 98 Hardcore Sports Radio. During the interview, Van Dam talked about a number of topics, including RVD TV, Chris Masters returning to WWE, Tommy Dreamer winning the ECW title and more. While he did talk about enjoying his time away from the wrestling business, it's interesting to note that during the interview, he revealed that TNA Wrestling has been in "constant contact" with him as recently as this past week."

He would be a great signing, but I don't think he will make his comeback very soon. But, when he does, I know that he and Joe are big buddies. And now TNA has a lot of ECW alumni so who knows?

Honestly, at this point, I'd be angry if he signed with any other company aside from the WWE. He's made sporadic appearances for them in recent months, so I don't see why he shouldn't return full-time shortly. TNA wouldn't know how to use him, anyways. I never found RVD all that entertaining as a main eventer.

With his wife's health I would suspect that the easier TNA schedule would be very appealing to Rob. Plus, the WWE would have RVD main eventing. He would easily be in the mix with Jericho, Edge, Punk etc. So, keeping him out of TNA won't stop the RVD main event spot.

I don't see why you'd be pissed about him going to TNA.

Because he doesn't watch TNA, I'm guessing.

I'd rather see RVD go to TNA...but not right now. Some time after the MEM has dissolved and maybe the main event/upper midcard thins out/makes more sense. It's a jumbled mess, in my opinion, and adding another name like RVD to the mix would just make it even more confusing.

I really don't think MEM crowds the main event. Only Sting and Kurt Angle are ever in the title hunt. The rest of the guys are just backup that show up in tag matches or accompany Sting or Angle to the ring.

I have never been a big RVD fan. I'm not against him or anything. But he just doesn't spark my interest to the point that I'd go out of my way to see him or even miss him when he's not there.

What the hell does this have to do with character? It's about Rob Van Dam being a big name already. When I think of RVD in TNA, I immediately imagine how he would be treated like an Angle-esque character and would immediately become the company's top babyface. Maybe I'm just angry because I'm not the biggest RVD fan. I've never had a problem with the guy, but I don't think he's ever been a worthy main eventer.

RVD would be pretty much over with the crowd, why not put him in the upper mid-card scene and build him up to a main event appearance? Just because YOU don't like TNA doesn't mean RVD wouldn't be a good fit.

RVD was on Wrestle Talk Radio and one of the things he said was this:

Quote:

On conforming to the WWE Style:

"I'm not a fan of it, I knew WWE wasn't going to be my favorite style going in and i resisted for a quite a while before calling Paul Heyman and saying I'll talk to them. When you argue with Vince over some of the stuff, you are arguing with a guy who knows what it is like to build a global brand. I found this out when arguing over ECW, about the way when he was destroying it by making it lame like RAW & Smackdown, instead of letting it go for its individuality, its what the fans loved about it."

Maybe another thing in the favor of TNA.

From RVD's Appearance on The Monday Night Mayhem Radio Network:

Quote:

Since leaving World Wrestling Entertainment two years ago, rumors have continued to swirl that RVD could be moving over to TNA...and those rumors kicked into high gear after he attended last month's Bound For Glory PPV in California (as a guest of Booker T) and met both Dixie Carter & Vince Russo. Now that Hulk Hogan has officially signed with TNA, how appealing is TNA to RVD? The question on the hearts & minds of fans across the globe was answered exclusively on The Mayhem.

"With Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff now in TNA, it's a very interesting time in the wrestling business...and in a very positive way. I was at Bound For Glory saying hi to some friends. And part of that was 'Oh hi Dixie, nice to meet you.' We have talked on the phone...Same thing with Vince Russo. Now that Hogan & Bischoff are there, it's definitely putting a lot of energy on TNA, a lot of focus & eyes. Now if they can follow up with that, they could really, really grow." He went to add, "It's more appealing because they raised the stakes."

I was expecting the report to say something about how RVD went to visit Booker and with Booker's relationship with TNA souring, then it looks as though RVD's chances got smaller. But, what do you know.

I like RVD a lot. I wouldn't mind him showing up in TNA. I would LOVE to watch him wrestle AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, and Samoa Joe. Those would be MOTY at any time.

RVD talks on The Sun.

Probably he'll join TNA... wonder what in TNA made him change his mind of joining, besides Hogan and Bischoff being there now?

After hearing Van Dam say those words about WWE, I think it's highly unlikely that he will be returning there. TNA seems like the safer option to go with now. I just really hope they don't misuse him like they did with Booker T.

Saw the light about what? I never said that RVD wasn't a good wrestler. I said I never thought much of him as a World Champion. Big difference.

Don't skip the Geritol old man. The alzheimer's is catching up to ya  :P

If memory serves me correctly, and it does, you said RVD would never get a WWE title reign...and he did. You also argued with me for years over his stature within the WWE and wrestling claiming he wasn't main event material. How good could you have thought he was?

The following is an excerpt from an article on Rob Van Dam from Alex Marvez of ScrippsNews.com:

Van Dam, 39, remains on good terms with WWE, having made a surprise appearance in last year's "Royal Rumble." But TNA Wrestling might be a better fit because of the company's more limited touring and television-taping schedule. TNA also is now spending more on big-name talent like Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair while trying to compete with WWE. Another head-to-head Monday-night battle could be coming March 1, with TNA hoping to again air its "Impact" show on Spike TV opposite WWE's "Monday Night Raw" on USA Network.

"I really don't have any hidden information," Van Dam said. "This match Saturday is the last official booking I have on my calendar. I'm not out there trying to procure work in wrestling.

"I do have some interest right now in what's going on with the big companies. I know Hogan would like to have me. Eventually, (TNA) may start to wear me down and my 'no thanks' will become 'well, maybe.' I have some interest, but I don't know what's going to happen. I don't see myself going back to the full-time, ridiculous never-ending WWE schedule. I couldn't wait to get away from it before."

I'd love to him him finally come back to TV and it sounds like TNA would be a better fit for him.

I want RVD back so bad I am a huge fan and him to TNA would make me mark. I think TNA is more his speed right now he is not looking for that rough full time schedule that WWE has. With that said I wont hold my breath but I hope that TNA keep on him as come March it would be nice for him to be there on the next Live show.

Negotiations between TNA and Rob Van Dam have heated up over the last couple weeks. It is believed that the company would like to feature him as a surprise on next Monday's live edition of TNA Impact.

Well, you know TNA is going to want to have some sort of big moment surprises for March 8. They have been after RVD for ages now. Anyone think they'll get him this time?

UPDATE: It looks like RVD has officially signed with TNA:

ProWrestling.net

Spike TV has posted a note on their Twitter page noting that Hulk Hogan confirmed Rob Van Dam "has signed with TNA Wrestling." The post includes a link to the radio interview we recapped this morning. You can read the Spike tweet at Twitter.com.

TNA cannot be happy about this news getting out if they were going to use this as a surprise. But, then, maybe people knowing in advance would be better for a ratings pop than another series of surprise returns.

There are some people within TNA management who are said to be "fuming" that word leaked out about Rob Van Dam signing with TNA, according to Jason Powell at Prowrestling.net.

Hulk Hogan spilled the beans during a radio show appearance this morning in New York City when the studio camera filmed Hogan doing the "thumb-to-shoulder" motion when talking about big surprises that were coming to TNA.

They shouldn't be upset, really. Getting someone like RVD to work with should be something to be happy about and that'll get some hardcore RVD fans to watch Impact over Raw while other people not knowing much of TNA or barely/never exposed to it get to be surprised.

Rob Van Dam recently did an interview with 100.9 The Farm and had the following to say concerning the rumor of his TNA signing:

"Officially guys, no, I haven't signed anything officially. However, the talks have been very, very good lately. I'm sure I will be speaking to them a lot more today as well. I'd say there is a pretty good probability that you should tune in Monday night on Spike. Officially as of now, although rumors are everywhere that I have signed, it is not official at this moment."

Rob Van Dam posted a new blog over at RobVanDam.com and spoke very positively about his time in TNA. "To counter any negative energy that may be out there, concerning TNA in any matter, let me just tell you that I am loving it there. The reasonable work schedule, the doable travel, the people in and behind the scenes, the growing situation, the excitement from the crowd, the unstoppable path to the top I’m on, love it al
