PWInsider.com is reporting that TNA's Senior Referee Rudy Charles has quit the company. Details surrounding his departure are unknown at this time.

I figured we had one for WWE and this is random enough to fit in here.

I thought the TNA release thread was the one including Petey Williams getting released.

Well, we could merge some threads...

Didn't Rudy Charles work for WWE or WCW at one point? Because I'm sure I'm familiar with that name, but the only TNA refs I can identify are Earl (due to his WWE days) and the bald guy that wears shorts.

Former TNA referee Rudy Charles (a/k/a Dan Engler) posted a blog on his Myspace page regarding his release from TNA. "I had been a part of the TNA family since the company began in 2002," Charles wrote. "On camera, I served as a referee since the first show and was promoted to senior referee a few months later.

"Behind the scenes, I was as a receptionist/assistant/merchandise guy/you name it for the first year and a half and have served as the Creative Assistant for the last 3½ years. During that time, it has been a privilege to serve my co-workers and you, the fans, every time I stepped into the TNA offices, the creative meetings or the six-sided ring. However, that chapter of my life has come to an end and I would like to wish TNA the best in their future endeavors." To read the full blog, visit Rudy's Myspace Page.

PWInsider reported Friday that Total Nonstop Action Wrestling released two prominent backstage players.

According to the report, Dutch Mantel and Savio Vega are no longer with the company.

Mantel had been working on TNA's creative team for several years; he represented one of the few wrestling veterans with creative control in the number two promotion. Vega, meanwhile, was serving as an agent for the company.

Firm details on the releases are not yet available, but both are of note due to Mantel and Vega's closeness with Jeff Jarrett. PWInsider described Mantel as one of Jarrett's "top lieutenants," while Vega had tight relationships with both Jarrett and Mantel. The releases thus create questions about Jarrett's level of influence in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling in the wake of his backstage issues with Kurt Angle.

So is Vince Russo in charge totally now?

From what I've heard, Dutch Mantel was one of the people responsible for the suck factor in TNA that's hung around for the longest time. I can't think of any specific examples, but I've heard his named dropped a lot when people have talked about who in TNA is in some form of power and really shouldn't be.

It sounds like there is a huge power gap opening in the back of TNA, which could be really good (getting the stale and tired people out of the way) or really bad (if the wrong people assume the power, we could have another WCW on more than just a crappy angle/pushing the old guys way. What if someone like Nash gets his hands in the pot again?).

Former TNA Knockout Champion Angelina Love, of the Beautiful People, received her release from TNA yesterday after TNA learned her working visa expired, or is about to expire shortly.

According to several sources within the company, there is some sort of an issue with Love’s work visa expiring, and not being renewed as needed.

Love, from Canada, has been working on a work visa originally granted to her when she was under a WWE Development contract. Sources indicate that the visa has either expired, or will expire shortly.

With Love’s work visa expiring, TNA has their hands tied and can’t use her without having the proper paperwork. There was a lot of unhappiness within TNA regarding the entire situation. There was more of a disappointment, as opposed to heat on Love for allowing it to expire.

Angelina Love and Velvet Sky have been the top heel Knockouts and were scheduled to be involved in a very important bout at the TNA No Surrender PPV in just a few weeks.

As of press time, there is no word as to how Love will be written out of TNA storylines. We’ll have more information in the coming days.

Love being let go surprises me. I can only imagine that she will return to the company once her working visa problems are handled. The Beautiful People have always been one of the high points of TNA's Knockout division.

This is definitely a shocker release. I'd agree that TNA brings her back when her visa problems are solved, because they push her too hard to just let her go and forget about her.

Or, maybe they'll push Velvet Sky instead. If that's the case, leave Love wherever she is. Never liked her anyway.

If she stays gone, then they would probably replace her in "The Beautiful People". But, right not, I don't see anyone in TNA that fits that group well.

In a correction from yesterday's report concerning Lauren Williams' (professionally known as "Angelina Love") sudden departure from Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, it was noted that she had been working under a visa she obtained during her time under contract to World Wrestling Entertainment as a developmental talent a few years ago. This is incorrect as her visa would have been deemed invalid as soon as she was let go — her release occurred in May 2007. According to a person in the know, she has actually been working without a visa for the past two years, which is illegal.

Basically, if you are not a legal citizen of the United States, you must apply for a new working visa each and every time you start with a new employer. Seeing how Williams is a Canadian citizen working in the United States, she falls under this category. The person applying must initiate the matter themselves by either having: enough money in the bank to support themselves; a U.S. sponsor; or a company confirming they will employ them in the U.S.

In September 2007, Williams was contacted by TNA officials to appear at their annual October pay-per-view, Bound for Glory. For all of the debuting Knockouts — including Williams — the 10-Knockout Gauntlet to crown the first TNA Women's Champion was in actuality a tryout match. Williams passed with flying colors as she was signed to a contract a few days following the match and instantly became a regular television character. However, this is where the problem occurred.

From a legal standpoint, her work visa issues were supposed to be taken care of before she could sign her contract with TNA, but apparently weren't. Likewise, company officials carelessly ignored the issue as well. For instance, this explains why it took so long for Gail Kim — who like Williams is a citizen of Canada — to debut in WWE this past year as her work visa issues had to be resolved before she could legally start with the company. In Williams' case, she made a glaring mistake by starting with her new employer before first getting her visa situation taken care of. Considering Williams has been working without a visa for the past two years, both she and TNA could face serious legal ramifications should federal agents become informed of this alarming matter.

As far as possible punishment is concerned, Williams could be subject to deportation and banned from entering the United States for ten years. She may also be forced to pay back any money she garnered by working as an illegal immigrant in the U.S.

According to the source, when TNA president Dixie Carter was informed by her legal team about the amount of trouble her company could face as a result of employing an illegal immigrant, she hastily made the decision to terminate Williams' contract.

Basically, TNA had an illegal immigrant as their Knockout Champion.

I have to admit that I'm shocked about the Angelina Love situation. Hopefully, this all gets cleared up and she'll be back in TNA. Of course, if WWE really wanted to put the screws to TNA, this is a prime opportunity for them. I'm amazed it took two years to find this out though regarding her work visa.

The following letter was sent by agent Michael Klyzub regarding his client Angelina Love (a/k/a Angel Williams).

As per usual, stories found on the internet have been grossly over stated and misinformed. Effective Thursday September 3, Angel Williams performing as Angelina Love in TNA had parted ways with the company. This separation was based purely on a miscommunication of Angel Williams present Visa Status. This in no way has anything to do with Contract Disputes or trouble with the office as has been reported. I want to stress the fact that once this Visa issue is cleaned up Angel is welcomed back to TNA Wrestling with open arms.

At this time I cannot and will not address any of the other rumors that are circulating with regards to the type of Visa issues, concerns of gaining employment with the competition nor will I address any other rumors. I will say that most of what is on the internet is inaccurate and that the fans should rest assured that Angel Williams the performer will be returning to the ring in no time at all.

We greatly appreciate all the fan support and look forward to having this issue resolved shortly.

It doesn't seem that difficult to get a work visa. Don't see why Love went 2 years without one. I'm not really a fan of Love. In fact, I hate the Beautiful People. I like Velvet Sky, but could care less for the act. That said, I hope she doesn't get a 10 year ban from the U.S. A fine seems reasonable, but it would suck if she had to pay back everything she's earned since starting with TNA as the article RagingCalm posted suggests she could have to.

TNAWrestlingNews.com has leaned EXCLUSIVELY that TNA has released BG James. Most remember him as "Road Dogg" from DX.

James had been working as an agent. BG is accepting independent bookings through David Herro at DavidHerro@aol.com.

TNAWrestlingNews.com

TNAWrestlingNews.com has learned that TNA has severed ties with former manager Jim Cornette.

More shortly.

Surprised about Cornette, obviously.

TNA wasn't using Cornette properly anyway. It's bad enough they didn't use him on creative, but then they took away his on-air role when they brought in Foley.

BG should take Kip with him.

According to a report on The Sun website, Jim Cornette's contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling was terminated after throwing one temper tantrum too many. Reportedly, he caused a major scene at the most recent Impact television taping during an argument with head writer Vince Russo.

Cornette directed his anger toward the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion during a production meeting calling for more focus on Eric Young on television.

"Everyone was in a production meeting with Russo running down the show, but Cornette went nuts screaming 'why are we pushing Eric Young?'," according to The Sun's source. "Russo reacted calmly and said it wasn't a big deal, but Cornette wouldn't let it go and kept screaming about it, really causing a scene. He just wouldn't stop. Even after the meeting broke, Cornette was walking around complaining to everyone who would listen."

A few concerned co-workers went to management to voice their displeasure over their belief that Cornette had been acting unprofessionally. Apparently, this was "his latest refusal to be a pro," so the organization decided to release him from his contract.

Similarly, Cornette was released by World Wrestling Entertainment in July 2005 after slapping current WWE star Santino Marella for breaking character and laughing at The Boogeyman during a live Ohio Valley Wrestling show.

"This wasn't politics or anything to do with Jeff. It was purely a decision prompted by the same behaviour that got Jim fired in WWE," the source said.

The question still remains, why are they pushing Eric Young?

So he got fired for asking the same question every TNA wrestler is asking?

I don't see Cornette going back to WWE. TNA doesn't want him. What's left? Retirement?
