-Jim Neidhart is also in for a short run. He will be an opponent for "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal, who is going to be working against a series of '80s wrestlers.

TNA hasn't done much with the Black Machismo character since he dropped the X Title like a year ago. He's been jobbing in tag matches with Creed since then. I wonder if this new "wrestle guys in their 80s from the 80s" gimmick will be a renewed push for Black Machismo or the end of the gimmick completely.

It could be really awesome for him if Hogan actually does a run with the guy. Hogan and Lethal as the new Mega Powers. They could have some classic promos together.

It's just some sort of mistake, that's all.

As noted before, former WWE Tag Champion Jim Neidhart worked last night's TNA iMPACT tapings, defeating Jay Lethal. Neidhart is part of a new storyline where Jay Lethal faces off against some of wrestling's "legends."

The storyline is something that was planned before the Hulk Hogan signing and other former stars will be coming in soon.

It's the best character he has ever had and the most over Lethal has ever been. It's not going anywhere.

The Black Machismo gimmick or Lethal's position in the TNA PPV matches?

I don't find it entertaining at all. Macho Man Randy Savage was my idol growing up. Lethal's a good wrestler and all, but I don't find it funny watching him impersonating Savage. Maybe it's the Savage mark in me, but I actually can't stand the fact that this gimmick is still running.

I loved the gimmick when it first started. As Purps pointed out, the peak of the gimmick has been the peak of Lethal's TNA career and arguable the peak of his entire career thus far. I hate how they turned him into a jobber with Creed. TNA had something with the gimmick, but doesn't know how to evolve it past just another impersonation gimmick. Honky Tonk Man made a career out of impersonating Elivs, but he had his own twist to it. Lethal needs a twist of his own, and losing to stars of the 80s isn't it.

PWTorch.com is reporting that several talents in the TNA locker room reacted negatively to The Nasty Boys and Hulk Hogan mocking Jay Lethal recently backstage at an Impact taping.

Apparently, Jerry Sags questioned how long Lethal will be employed by TNA as he feels the "Black Machismo" gimmick is somewhat of a slap in the face to Randy Savage.

Seems like an update for this topic...

It wouldn't surprise me if Jay Lethal is let go. I would like him to stay, but they've done nothing with him since Black Machismo lost its appeal (even though he was, at one point, one of the most over guys in the company).
