- According to a memo sent out to people in the cable industry, WWE is planning to raise the price of their non-WrestleMania PPVs. The increase will be a $5.00 increase to $44.95. Also in the memo is the confirmation that the will be dropping one of the June PPVs, and scaling back to 13 PPVs a year.

- The PPV price increase will begin with the 2010 Royal Rumble.

One Day, The Booze Will Make Me Brave Enough.
They already cost too much for the quality of the product as it is. I can not remember the last WWE PPV I bought. Going up on the price won't help out at all.

J.R. said in a recent blog (about PPV buys) that the PPV revenue is one of the major sources of income for a wrestling company. (my opinion starts here~~>) With the economy struggling, people are having to cut back and buy only the essentials. It may be for some wrestling fans that they WANT to order this PPV, but they NEED to buy food instead. Thus, WWE's PPV buys are going down. To compensate the lost revenue, they increase the price of each PPV. Which eventually will only lead to less buys, I'm guessing. It's wrong that I can remember a time when PPVs cost just $19.99.

It's just some sort of mistake, that's all.
So I guess Royal Rumble, Summerslam and Survivor Series will be worth $50 non-HD and $55 on HD... while WrestleMania will be $65 non-HD and $75 on HD.

The price rising will backfire. They cut Judgment Day, but also raise $5 to the rest of the PPVs.

I don't understand the WWE's logic. I thought I remember from Economics class that when the demand is down, the cost should go down so it still looks enticing enough for people to buy. It's when the demand rises that costs should be increased from an economic perspective. The supply, I would tend to think, should remain relatively constant since it goes through TV stations and a PPV is just an electronic signal. It isn't like a physical object you can hold in your hand like a cereal box or the PPV's DVD.

I paid $30 for NYR 2006 when Edge first won the title

Thats the only PPV ive ever bought and i thought it was decent. No way in hell i'd buy a PPV now with these prices.

The price of Survivor Series is $29.95 ($27.47USD), which is the same as it was 4 years ago
TNA Turning Point is $24.95 ($22.91USD)

So yeah I have no major problems with shelling out 30 bucks on a quality PPV (i emphasise "quality"). From what I recall, btw, Im quite sure that the aussie PPV provider got some deal where we get em cheaper for a while before the contract is renewed soon. Might be mistaken so idk.

Do I see sheets of plastic in your future?
I rarely order PPVs unless it's RR or WM.

I usually buy pay-per-views depending on my mood or how decent a card looks. For instance, I bought Bragging Rights last month to see Randy Orton versus John Cena. I may order the next TNA or DGUSA pay-per-view, but my next WWE one will most likely be Royal Rumble 2009. The WWE prices are outlandish compared to other wrestling companies.
