"How far we all come. How far we all come away from ourselves. You can never go home again." -James Agee It's my belief, that Mr. Agee was on to something. You reach a certain point and you realize you need to explore outside of your own backyard. You realize that going beyond that fence you used to climb as a kid will be a big journey - but a necessary one. Walking out of the front door for the "last" time, you realize that everything after that moment will be different. And while, you're scared and maybe even doubtful, something inside of you is telling you this is something you must do. Once you leave home, it's never the same when you return. Things have changed in your absence. People have moved on. The smells are different, the air doesn't breathe the same, and it only looks slightly like you remember it. What used to look so big, suddenly seems small. Pictures on the wall show like museum exhibits of those who have come and gone before and after you - tiny footprints left behind by those who once made this "place" a "home". The walls are structurally the same, but the foundation on which they rest is no longer you're "home". While it has stayed in the same spot and hasn't physically moved, it's miles away from the place you once knew. So, yes, maybe you can never go home again. And maybe you wouldn't want to. But as long as you remember where home is, it will never be lost. I remember where my home is. My home is here. And I just came back. Let's have a look around....
